I have been developing a process since 2001 that involves concertina folding long strips of paper to create intricate patterns for jewellery. Initially I used plastic strips as I thought it would be more suitable for jewellery but after a few years I realised paper was the perfect medium. Paper is a lovely material to work with, it feels nice between the fingers, it’s flexible yet when tightly folded can be really strong, it comes in array of colours and presents technical challenges when coupled with metal which I continually enjoy.
